kenya studio
In 2012, I developed a Junior studio experience with UArts colleague Mike McCallister and Josphat Macharia, a farmer and educator in Ndabibi, Kenya. It developed into a yearly studio experience that took place in Spring of Junior year.

Ndabibi Student Photography Project (link)
We worked students in several schools in Ndabibi to help us with understanding what their home life was like. We handed out disposable cameras with instructions to the students to use for documenting their lives for a few days. We developed and made prints when we returned to the US. We delivered photos and books to the schools when we returned the following year as a thank-you. This experience was key in developing a way to unobtrusively gain the insight we needed to work on some of the design challenges with Josphat and his community.
